Owner Cory Boehs

Cory Boehs has been involved in construction since his teens, working for his family’s company. In the spring of 2007 he decided to go into business for himself. He is now the proud owner of a successful spray foam company, Kool Foam, LLC., as well as Kool Foam, LLC. He is married with three wonderful children and aims to positively impact everyone he meets, which is also the goal at Kool Foam, LLC. Cory strives to give each and every customer personalized and superior service with the highest quality results.

Our History

We first started off as a young couple scheming on how to start our own business. We had aspirations of grandeur, but no real plan so to speak. After a discussion with a brother-in-law, we had it in our heads to explore the world of spray foam insulation, which seemed like a sound business to get into, and Boehs Construction already had several projects lined up that needed spray foam application.

Cory began his research online and spoke with a banker. A loan was taken out for a trailer and for equipment, but the brand was the next big issue. They wanted to capture the state of mind a well insulated home offers its owners, and so Kool Foam, LLC was decided as the new company name after noticing that the coolfoam@gmail.com email address was already taken. After the creation of a tagline (based off of “Got Milk?”), Alfalfa County’s newest business was up and running.

Once a local supplier was found that could help set up the spray foam rig, all the necessary equipment was priced and ordered, along with a used trailer. Having already sold the first job, Cory set up on a lot in Helena to spray foam a ready to move home headed for Greensburg, Kansas.

The first job presented many unique challenges. The supplier was late to show up, and after swiftly loading the equipment into the back of the trailer, Cory is ready to spray at 8PM that night. The supplier provides a brief 2 hour training period and leaves Cory to his own devices.

What should have been a quick and easy one-day installation ended up taking three. The spray foam wasn’t smoothing out evenly and the spray gun kept clogging during 100 degree heat. Even though it was a frustrating experience, Cory kept at it and eventually finished the job. The homeowner came running over with a big grin, and Cory knew that he was on to something.

The subsequent job at a local florist in Alva involved spray foam application in a cold room. When they arrived on the scene, the spray gun refused to cooperate and they had to head home in defeat. Cory contacted an experienced foam contractor to see if he could get some help and more professional training. The next day he headed south to learn under Joe Kanneday, who taught the proper techniques, helped set up the trailer and showed the easiest methods for maintaining the spray gun’s function. They returned to the Alva florist and finished the job, signifying the start of Kool Foam, LLC’s successful reign.

Company growth

While maintaining employment at Boehs Construction, Cory spent the next two years performing foaming jobs, with wife Sue helping whenever possible. In February of 2009, they upgraded to larger equipment and a larger trailer even though the subsequent spring work was slow. In the summer of 2009, a shop was built on the Boehs Construction yard to house the trailer and the chemicals. Soon the jobs were on the rise and temporary help was hired. Cory still did all the spraying, but enjoyed an extra pair of hands for masking off and cleanup.

In January of 2010, Travis Jantz joined the Kool Foam, LLC team as their first hired foam applicator. Travis and Cory worked together to devise a team environment, with Travis now doing most of the spraying and Cory being freed up to focus more on selling. Travis’s spray foam rig was sold to Kool Foam, LLC that fall, increasing their number of rigs to a duo.

Expanding our offerings

In early 2012, a pipeline company contacted Kool Foam, LLC to spray some trench breakers. Since the team was already in Canadian, Texas spraying a shop, they swung by and sprayed the breakers on their return trip. Once they had seen the need for foam trench breakers and how best to construct them, they began to get more actively involved in the market. They purchased a breaker truck in May, allowing for more job opportunities, hiring more applicators, and a shop addition. Cory’s main responsibilities were selling and overseeing the business operations instead of the spraying he had started with.

By September, another large pipeline contract had been awarded, and another breaker truck was needed. At this point in time Cory and Sue began to attend business classes, educating them about systems and working on the business rather than for it. They decided to hire Roger Unruh as a General Manager, who joined the team shortly thereafter.

Through the end of 2012 and 2013, Ryan Madrid was hired as a new applicator, and Travis Jantz moved on to another company as an electrician. Kenwood Holdeman and Logan Kuepfer were both hired as new applicators as well, and both interior rigs were upgraded with new trailers. Since demand was high, they also acquired more scissor lifts to handle the increased work flow.

Our first acquisition

In April of that year, Kool Foam, LLC acquired Alva Building and Insulation, which increased their customer base and afforded them another foam rig once wrapped to match the others. With the general manager, the business operation ran smoothly, from accounting to paperwork, allowing our revenue and work load to steadily increase.

These days, Kool Foam, LLC is no longer a dream being chased, it’s a team of families with a common goal of advancing the company to new heights. Customer satisfaction is at an all-time high, and Kool Foam, LLC is recognized as Northwest Oklahoma’s market leader in spray foam applications.
