Black Walnut Harvest in Oklahoma - Foraging | Homestead Kids





Black Walnut ( Juglans Nigra ) harvest in Oklahoma - foraging is a good way to save money. Black Walnut grows a lot in Oklahoma so we are able to forage the Black Walnuts that drop along side the rural roads here. Black Walnut is delicious but it is really tough to crack the hull and get the nut meat out. To get any significant amount of nut meats is very labor intensive. But the end result is worth the effort :) The kids always love to forage no matter what it is that we are foraging. They have lots of fun.
