NAACP Leader Rachel Responds Parent's Claims on Racial Identity




Rachel Dolezal's parents said they were confused why their child claimed to be black for years even though she was caucasian. Ruthanne and Lawrence Dolezal told HuffPo Live they found out Rachel was lying about her ethnicity "some years ago" through a Spokane newspaper interview she did. Lawrence said she was confused about why Rachel wanted to switch her racial identity. Ruthanne and Lawrence, who said they have "four black adopted children," are not on good terms with their daughter, who works with the NAACP as a civil rights activist. A teary Ruthanne said she was hurt by her daughter's rejection and that Rachel could have chosen a different path to advocate on behalf of African Americans.
