Thank you for watching the video. This video is all about buying a used a car on Craigslist. I will show you how to spot a scammer or car flipper and how to avoid buying from one. A lot of scammers, car flippers and dealers are posting as personal sellers on Craigslist. I’m not saying that buying from them is wrong because I bought cars from them in the past and resold it for profit. It’s just that not all flippers do a good job. While I was looking for deals, I found this 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse. It’s posted “By Owner” about an hour ago. It says, “My car is super clean, no mechanical problems, the car is in perfect condition from both the inside and outside”. What you can do is grab the number and search it in Google to find out if it’s a scammer, car flipper or dealer. One of the results shows that he has a 2005 BMW for sale on fyiauto.com. Sometimes, flippers use multiple numbers so you won’t see any results. But if they used the number a couple of times, you’ll see other deals on Craigslist. It’s not necessary to do this, but just if you want to make sure that he’s legit and not posting as the owner. Here’s another one. I found a 2006 Toyota Tacoma for seven thousand four hundred and eighty seven dollars. It’s posted “By Owner”, thirteen hours ago. So, he’s listing it as his car. I searched his number in Google and found out that he’s a used car salesman. People like buying a used car from owners rather than dealers because they feel they get better deals from the private party than dealers. I found another deal, a 2002 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab PreRunner. He posted as owner and found a Rip off report on him when I searched his number in Google. He’s another car dealer and probably specializing in buying and selling trucks. He’s hiding the fact that he’s a dealer. So, this is a way for you to double check if you feel uncomfortable about a deal. You can also do this if you think that deals seem too good to be true.
