Oklahoma City real estate and the abandoned property initiative

http://bit.ly/1Laq7er. As President of The Oklahoma Association of REALTORS I don't create legislation on my opwn but as a group we are advocates for our property owners, and our community. In Oklahoma County we have 20,000 abandoned properties, many neglected for 3 years or more. This cost the city millions in lost revenues that take care of essential services. There is not a mechanism that compels the owner to either fix up or sell to someone who will, but The Abandoned property Act is in this legislative session and I urge all Oklahomans to look at why we need to stop the abuse of the homeowners around these properties in oklahoma who care, and elevate all of housing, not just the housing for the higher incomes people. This is important to our city and our state.
