According to Department of Justice authorities, 300 people have been charged this year in health care fraud sweeps across the country. That includes physicians, clinic owners and other health care professionals accused of cheating Medicare. In what is being called the largest ever Medicare dragnet, authorities have managed to bring in over $900 million in fraudulent medicare payments. Most of the fraud comes from patients who were billed for unnecessary procedures, or even treatments that they never actually received.
