Recently, the Department of Justice sent out a memo reminding all US courts of the American people's basic constitutional rights. The DOJ reminded the courts that raising revenue from poor defendants and imprisoning them w/o proper counsel in civil and criminal cases is illegal. Poor defendants are routinely deprived of the attorney that is guaranteed to them by their 6th and 14th amendment rights.
