Groups Sue Baton Rouge Police For Handling of Protests

A local group of organizations has sued the Baton Rouge Police Department over their treatment of demonstrators protesting the recent killing of a black man by police. The American Civil Liberties Union announced the lawsuit this week. The groups allege that authorities used excessive force and carried out mass arrests of protesters. The suit also claims officers verbally and physically abused those in the crowd. Over a three-day period, police arrested about 200 people.
