White House Predicts Budget Deficit Will Reach $600B

On Friday the White House predicted that the government's budget deficit for the soon-to-end fiscal year will reach $600 billion. That's an increase of $162 billion over last year's tally. It's also a reversal of a steady trend of improving deficits under President Obama's watch. Obama inherited a $1.4 trillion deficit at the start of his presidency, in the wake of the recession and the financial crisis that followed.
