WASHINGTON, Oct. 12, 2016 — For the second time in four days, the guided missile destroyer USS Mason responded today to an incoming missile threat while conducting routine operations in international waters off the Red Sea coast of Yemen, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said. The guided-missile destroyer USS Mason is replenished at sea, Aug. 3, 2016. The ship responded to an incoming missile threat off the coast of Yemen on Oct. 12, 2016, the second such response in four days. At about 6 p.m. local time today -- 11 a.m. EDT -- the ship detected at least one missile that officials assess originated from Houthi-controlled territory near Hudaydah, Yemen, Cook said in a statement. The ship employed defensive countermeasures, and the missile did not reach USS Mason, he added. *I will immediately reply to any legitimate copyright concerns should one exist.* *DOD Non-Endorsement Disclaimer: "The appearance of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) visual information does not imply or constitute DoD endorsement.”* *Department of Defense (DoD) motion and still media files are referred to as Visual Information (VI)*; in general, DoD VI that are works of authorship prepared by U.S. Government employees as part of their official duties are not eligible for copyright protection in the United States. *Fair Use Disclaimer for News Broadcasting*: The Content in this video constitutes a 'fair use' of any such copyrighted material as provided for in section 107 of the US Copyright Law.
