The O'Reilly Factor 10/13/16 | Media Engaged in a 'Scurrilous' Smear Campaign Against Trump Newt Gingrich believes we're experiencing the "worst presidential election ... in the last hundred years." On "The Factor" tonight, Gingrich agreed with Bill O'Reilly that Americans are more dissatisfied and divided than ever before, and the media has played a major role in creating that disunion. He argued that journalism has "totally collapsed," pointing to The New York Times' "scurrilous" reporting on sexual assault allegations agaisnt Donald Trump. Gingrich claimed that the Times is only reporting on these accusations because they're trying to "manufacture" issues with the Republican nominee, something they would never do with Hillary Clinton. "I'd be willing to stipulate that the candidate I like, Donald Trump, has on occasion been crude if they'd be willing to stipulate that Hillary's both dishonest and corrupt."
