A hero cop has attempted to save a one-month-old baby who died while her mom was protesting against a police shooting. Baltimore Major Richard Gibson was on patrol near where a protest was being held about 3pm on Saturday in the wake of the shooting of an man armed with two knives on Friday. During the protest, which was attended by about 30 people, a group of people told Major Gibson a one-month-old girl had stopped breathing and was bleeding from the nose. Gibson then rushed into the pizza shop and performed CPR on the youngster in a desperate attempt to bring her back to life. The mother, who was one of the protesters, had taken her young daughter inside to feed her, police said in a statement. Duane Davis, who has become a public figure for his criticism of Baltimore Police in recent years, thanked the cop is his Facebook video. 'He did serve the community today, so I can’t beat him up on that one,' he said in the video. 'The police did do something positive in the community today... today they served and protected the community.' Baltimore youth commissioner Shawn Batson also commented about the incident on social media after witnessing it. 'This is hurting me to the core! I all can remember is the lady running to me screaming I need your help the baby is dead! Thank you Major Gibson for coming to aid to help this family,' Batson wrote on Facebook.
