China has urged the United States to block the Taiwanese president's stopover en route to Latin America next month. Beijing has been deeply suspicious of Tsai Ing-wen's actions considering them as a push to formally announce independence. Taiwan confirmed that Tsai would visit Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador and will transit in the US.
