“US arms threaten Russian forces in Syria”



Russia says US supply of weapons to militant groups in Syria is a hostile act. The Russian Foreign Ministry has said that Washington’s decision to lift the ban on weapons supply to militants in Syria threatens the safety of Russian warplanes and military personnel. The ministry said the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama is attempting to complicate the situation in the world before President-elect Donald Trump takes over in January. Earlier in December, the US administration lifted restrictions on arms deliveries to militants fighting against the Syrian government. Since the conflict in Syria erupted in 2011, the US has been funding and arming militant groups it calls moderate rebels.
