They had sailed into Iran’s waters near Kish Island on three boats from neighboring Arab countries. They were catching fish and a rare species of shark. Under the Iranian law, catching rare marine creatures carries hefty cash fines. Iran has seized nearly a dozen foreign boats in the Persian Gulf since early 20-16 for illegally entering the country’s waters.
