The world giant plane maker Airbus has delivered its first passenger jet to Iran, taking a key step in opening up trade under the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers. Airbus Chief Executive Officer Fabrice Bregier has said the delivery ushers in a new era of cooperation between the two sides. IranAir Chairman Farhad Parvaresh has invited the Airbus chief to fly to Tehran on board the new A-321 to mark the arrival in the Iranian fleet in a ceremony to be held shortly. The new jet has been painted in IranAir's livery. It’s the first of around 100 Airbus aircraft ordered since sanctions were lifted after the nuclear deal between Iran and the P-5-plus-one in 2015. Airbus required approval from the US Treasury to sell its aircraft as 10 percent of its components are American-made. Tehran has also ordered 80 passenger jets from Airbus’ US rival Boeing.
