Iraqi special forces have reached the eastern bank of the Tigris river in Mosul for the first time in a three-month, U.S-backed offensive to capture the city from the Islamic State. The militant group still controls the entire western half of Mosul. The Islamic State has also claimed one of two attacks at Baghdad markets, where 20 people were killed.
