Iraqi MPs call on govt. to reciprocate US ban #okc #news #wth



Iraq’s parliament has voted in favor of demanding the government respond in kind to the US visa ban on Iraqi nationals. A majority of lawmakers approved a measure that will apply to US citizens entering Iraq. According to two Iraqi parliament members, the vote is binding for the government. No further details on the wording of the parliamentary decision have yet been disclosed. Iraq’s foreign ministry has also expressed regret at Washington’s decision to ban Iraqi nationals from entering the US. In a statement, the ministry says Baghdad has asked the US administration to reconsider the move. An Iraqi government official says foreign minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari plans to meet the US ambassador to convey Baghdad’s protest at Donald Trump’s executive order.
