Megyn Kelly, anchor and host of “The Kelly File,” has decided to part ways with Fox News and join NBC. This comes on the last year of her $15 million dollar per year deal over at Fox. Many had speculated that she would leave for “greener pastures” due to her somewhat erratic behavior during the past year which has centered around the Presidential campaign. Conservatives across the nation were offended at her actions that appeared to be anti-conservative and anti-Trump. However, those assertions about Kelly’s behavior may be short-sighted and unable to see the greater picture. To be clear, Megyn Kelly is a multi millionaire and her income is totally dependant upon public image. Any and every move must be carefully calculated and crafted to project a certain image. One can even make the conclusion that her “feud” with Donald J. Trump during the Presidential campaign was manufactured to be mutually beneficial. It helps Trump to seem like more of a victim in the eyes of the general public due to mainstream media bullying him. It helps Megyn Kelly also seem like a victim in the eyes of those who support her and also those that do not support Trump. In both cases, they each get a lot of ancillary attention due to the press focusing on their feud. Therefore elevating both of them. This was especially the case for Kelly, since her stock has dramatically risen since the Presidential campaign. The most popular candidate in the race, now the current President-elect of the Untied States, gave her so much attention that her popularity and interest around her rose at the same time. Couple that with the change in hairstyle, the brief primetime show on “big” FOX featuring none other than Donald Trump, and also the tell-all style book, you have a superstar in the making. A person that has the ability to be the next Barbara Walters.
