Mexico protests over gas prices turn deadly #okc #news #wth



Authorities have confirmed that two people have died in a confrontation between protesters and police in the central state of Hidalgo. There were four previous deaths in incidents over the past few days. Officials say some 300 stores have been looted and more than one-thousand people have been detained over the violence. Mexicans have been left outraged after authorities raised fuel prices on January 1. The government says the rise is a necessary measure as part of a deregulation strategy of the energy sector.
