Syria: Assad thanks Iran for role in Syria victories #okc #news #wth



Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met with Chairman of Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi and an accompanying delegation in Damascus on Wednesday. Assad voiced the appreciation of the Syrian people to Iran for its political and economic support to Syria throughout the crisis, adding that Iran’s support was a chief factor in the victory over militant forces. On his end, Boroujerdi congratulated Assad and the Syrian people on their victory in Aleppo, affirming Iran’s continuing support to Syria in its war. Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem also met with the Iranian delegation, where he expressed the Syrian government’s willingness to engage in Syrian-Syrian dialogue with the aim of reaching a political resolution to the crisis in Syria.
