Researchers recently discovered that an anti-diabetic drug activates a gene that can inhibit the growth of melanoma in older patients. Although studies have shown that the specific anti-aging protein Klotho can be used in metastatic therapy, this new study found another benefit. However, their findings only affect old populations. Conducted with mice, the researchers found that treating elderly mice with a drug to promote Klotho expression decreased the growth of melanoma.
