Taking This Cancer Drug A Different Way Could Drop The Price By 75% #okc #news #wth



A new study indicates that when taking an expensive prostate cancer drug, eating a low-fat meal when taking it can cut the dosage of the drug--and therefore the cost--by three-quarters. Researchers from the University of Chicago say the drug's label instructs patients to fast before taking it. However, eating a low-fat meal improves the absorption of the drug tremendously. Zytiga costs more than $9,000 a month and patients typically remain on the drug for 12 to 18 months. And according to UPI, even patients with the best health insurance can have co-pays of $1,000 to $3,000 a month.
