Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin joined "Sunday Morning Futures" for an exclusive interview with Maria Bartiromo. He said the No. 1 economic objective for President Donald Trump's administration is tax reform for both individuals and corporations. "On the personal side, it's really about tax simplification -- fewer tax brackets, simpler taxes and creating a middle income tax cut," Mnuchin said. "That's really the focus on personal taxes. "And on business taxes, it's really about making U.S. companies competitive. We need to create a level playing field for U.S. companies to be able to compete in the world. And they just haven't had that opportunity." Mnuchin also said the president supports free yet fair trade and the country will not be getting into any trade wars with other nations. "We're going to renegotiate these dollars so they're good for the American public, they're good for the American worker and they're good for American companies," he said. "And all we're looking for are fair deals where the deals work for us and they work for the other parties." According to Mnuchin, Trump is expected to discuss his tax reform plan Tuesday when he addresses a joint session of Congress.
