US Vice-President Mike Pence tipped the vote in Betsy DeVos' favour on the senate floor in Washington DC, Tuesday, confirming her as US President Donald Trump's pick for education secretary. The vote was split 50-50. Pence offered the 51st vote and in doing so made history by being the first vice-president to cast a tie-breaking vote for any cabinet member.
