US President Donald Trump vowed to empower the US military and defeat the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and the "forces of death", during a visit to US Central Command headquarters at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, on Monday. Trump promised to reinforce the US navy, saying that "our navy is at a point almost as low as World War One. It's a long time ago, it's long time ago. It's not gone happen anymore folks, not with me." Moving away from previous statements labelling NATO as "obsolete", Trump stated that "we strongly support NATO, we only ask that all of the NATO members make their full and proper financial contributions to the NATO alliance which many of them have not been doing." He vowed to defeat IS and 'radical Islamists', along with the support of America's allies, a statement that comes after the US president continues to faced criticism from several member states over his position on Islam and his immigration policies. Trump ended his address by reiterating his campaign motto, 'Make America Great Again'.
