Iran’s foreign ministry has rejected the US State Department’s latest report on human rights conditions in the Islamic Republic. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi says the US government is in no position to assess human rights in other countries as it has a track-record of rights abuse both at home and abroad. Qassemi referred to the White House's travel ban on seven predominantly Muslim nations including Iran and the persecution of Muslim families in the US. He said the move is yet another rights violation by US officials. The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman believes the US state department's annual reports on other countries is actually an effort by Washington to cover up its own dark record when it comes to human rights. Qassemi added that all nations are now aware of the US war crimes in a number of countries in the Middle East.
