S. Korea convenes emergency meeting on N. Korea missile launch #okc #news #wth

South Korea's Prime Minister and Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn is chairing a standing committee meeting of the National Security Council. We go to our presidential office correspondent Song Ji-sun, at Cheong Wa Dae. Ji-sun, the Prime Minister has for the first time convened the meeting at the presidential office? That's right, Mark. This is the first time the acting president has chaired the meeting at the so-called 'underground bunker' of Cheong Wa Dae - since he assumed the duty in place of suspended President Park Geun-hye. The meeting,... which started around an hour ago,... brought together the ministers of defense, diplomacy, unification, the president's chief of staff, the top foreign affairs aide and the head of the nation's intelligence agency at the presidential office. After assessing the situation - the South Korean government will express its stance,... likely condemning the North for threatening regional security and peace on the Korean peninsula. Hwang recently convened a National Security Council meeting after the murder of Kim Jong-nam - Kim Jong-un's half brother who was poisoned with a nerve agent at Kuala Lumpur airport, a scheme directed by the North Korean regime. Seoul has been pledging to take a stern response against ANY North Korean provocation... as South Korea and the U.S. are holding their annual military exercises... and the North's projectile launches appear to be an apparent protest against those drills.
