"There is NO proof" Trey Gowdy ATTACKS Donald Trump on Fox News #okc #news #wth

‘We Can’t Rely on Anonymous Sources’: Gowdy Rips Media’s Reporting on Trump’s Wiretapping Claims Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC) appeared on America’s Newsroom Monday, where he scolded reporters over the job they’ve done covering President Trump‘s allegations that former president Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower. Ever since Trump’s explosive claims this weekend, many in the political press have scrutinized his tweets while noting that they were based off of thinly-sourced details from sectors of conservative media. Gowdy was asked about this by Bill Hemmer, and the former Benghazi committee chairman took issue with journalists who use “anonymous sources” and “leaked information” in their work. I think Congress is much better equipped to do investigations than journalists are. We can’t rely on anonymous sources. We can’t rely on leaked information, classified information which in and of itself is a crime. So with all due respect to the reporters, I can’t cross examine anonymous sources. You can’t even directly examine them. It is a lot easier to write a news piece than to do an investigation. What Congress needs is access to the witnesses, access to the documents and to understand we don’t run parallel criminal investigations. We have a job to do, but it is not to investigate crime. RealClearPolitics notes that Gowdy might have been referencing Bob Woodward, who recently said that Congress is not “well-equipped” to investigate Trump’s allegations. In terms of how he felt about the claims themselves, Gowdy echoed Jason Chaffetz and said he hasn’t seen any evidence to back up Trump. “I don’t think the FBI is the Obama team and I don’t think the men and women who are career prosecutors at DOJ belong to any team other than a blindfolded woman holding a pair of scales,” Gowdy said. ► SUBSCRIBE - http://bit.ly/2n9Qs9M ►Official channel - https://www.youtube.com/user/CNN
