A new ‘variant of interest’, called the ‘Mu’ is concerning WHO and health experts. The Mu variant, also known as B.1.621, was added to the WHO's watchlist on August 30. The new variant has been detected in 39 countries and reportedly possess a cluster of mutations. The new variant is reportedly more likely to evade immune protection acquired from vaccines.
