Following a lengthy filibuster by Senate Democrats for amendments to gun legislation, Republican leaders agreed to certain proposals. Ending in a relative bipartisan consensus, the Senate will take up a vote on expanding background checks to prevent those in the government's terror watch list from purchasing a firearm legally. In the wake of another deadly shooting, some members of the federal legislature have proposed two ways to close this 'terror gap.' The Senate Democrats want sole discretion given to the Justice Department, and therefore the FBI, to determine eligibility.
