Colombia: Officer killed, scores injured in bomb attack near Bogota bullring #okc #news #wth



One police officer was killed, and a reported 31 people injured, after a bomb exploded near Bogota's Santamaria bullring, Sunday. Police filed out onto the road where the explosive was detonated to block off the area. The bomb was reportedly placed in a sewer next to a youth hostel and was detonated several hours before the planned event at the bullring. No one has yet claimed the attack. However, a series of violent altercations have broken out between law enforcement and animal rights activists because of bullfighting in the city. The sport was outlawed in Bogota in 2012, but the ban was later repealed. Sunday’s planned bullfight will reportedly go ahead.
