South Korea: Thousands demand impeachment of President Park in Seoul #okc #news #wth

Thousands of protesters gathered at Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul, Saturday, demanding that South Korea President Park Geun-hye step down from her position, calling for her impeachment. The protest was met by several hundred counter protesters reunited under the slogans "Manipulated evidence", and "Invalid impeachment". Park has been accused of allowing a close friend undue influence over her presidential decisions. She has denied any intentional wrong-doing but apologised for being careless. Out of 300 members of parliament, 234 voted to have Park expelled, while 56 stood behind the President. It is now up to the Constitutional Court, on March 10th, to decide whether the impeachment should be upheld. If the motion is accepted Park would become South Korea’s first elected leader to be removed from the office before the end of their term.
