S. Korea, U.S. vow to stick with planned THAAD deployment #okc #news #wth

Holding telephone talks on Wednesday,... Kim Kwan-jin, chief of South Korea's National Security Office, and H.R. McMaster, the Trump administration's national security adviser, also agreed to firmly respond to North Korea's military threats. The allies' defense chiefs also spoke over the phone on Wednesday. U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis told his South Korean counterpart Han Min-koo that any attack on a U.S. ally would be defeated. The talks come as South Korea and the U.S. kicked off their annual joint military exercises, which will likely draw protests from Pyongyang. Foal Eagle, an exercise involving ground, air and naval forces, will run through the end of next month.
