Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Russia will respond to any "hostile steps" Washington decides to undertake, while speaking in Moscow on Wednesday. Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson (Russian): "It seems that the departing Administration of the United States of America is not losing hope to do something bad one last time for its relations with Russia. But it [the US Administration] is likely to forget that it has already collapsed these relations. This time through the clearly inspired leaks in American mass media, they try to scare us with expansion of anti-Russian sanctions, with the measures of diplomatic character and even with sabotage against our computer systems. However, the last Christmas greeting from Obama’s team, which is preparing to leave the White House, wants to cynically present as a reaction on some cyber-attacks from Moscow. Frankly speaking, we are tired of the lies about the Russian hackers, some Russian hackers, which is being poured from above. Six months ago the Obama Administration leaked this misinformation in order to play along with the necessary candidate during the Presidential elections in November. Failing to achieve its goal, it is trying to justify personal failure and with vengeance it is taking it out on Russian-American relations. But the provocations, orchestrated by the White House, the truth about this campaign will sooner or later come to the surface. It is happening now. On December 8 the American mass media reported that Secretary of State of the U.S. State of Georgia, Brian Kemp, reported that the authorities of the region tracked the origin of the hackers’ attack on his electronic system of results compilation soon after the elections. The tracks led to the computer address in US Department of Homeland Security. What else can be said here? The only thing to add is that they tried to conceal this information under the flow of new anti-Russian allegations which have no proof. I would like to add that it is necessary for the people in the White House to clearly understand that if Washington undertakes new hostile steps, it will get a response. It concerns any actions against Russian diplomatic missions in US which will immediately ricochet the American diplomats in Russia. Maybe Obama’s Administration doesn’t care what will happen to the bilateral relations but the history is not likely to forgive the "after us it may flood" type of behaviour."
